Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Dreamville Records released her debut EP titled Pho in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she dropped additional music on the internet including Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to use it with Rihanna. It was announced on the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was followed by a video in September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It was then released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. In February the music video for the track debuted. The song has received more than three million YouTube views in just one week. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
